The Zuma Select Exotic Wood Collection is the finest example of our dedication to carrying beautiful beads which are created in an environmentally friendly manner. These beads appeal to any jewelry designer with an eye for quality and as well as any customer concerned with conservation.
They are made from tropical exotic hardwoods. We carry beads in purple heart wood, tempisque wood, and rosewood. The rosewood is a rich brown with beautiful red undertones. The wood grain makes each bead truly unique. Tempisque is a blond wood with a soft yellow hue. Purple heart wood is a striking color between burgundy and purple. They are not dyed, and are hand-polished. Whenever possible, they are made from deadfall - limbs or trees knocked down during storms, or trees that simply die of old age. When deadfall is unavailable, branches are trimmed rather than felling whole trees. A portion of our profits funds the planting of new trees to ensure a lasting supply of wood for the beads and in an effort to replenish the rainforests.
